Goal
Ensure that TFAS® is well fixed in the cement mantle and that the cement mantle is well fixed in the bone.
Conclusion
The attachment of the TFAS® to the cement can take 2 ½ to 3 times its maximum duty loads without debonding. TFAS® can withstand more than twice the load it takes to detach a pedicle screw fusion system (the current standard of care) from bone without loosening from the spine.
| Bone-Cement Interface Strength |
Supports ≥ 2.5 maximum static in vivo loads
Supports ≥ 3x maximum fatigue in vivo loads
Supports ≥ 2x ultimate fixation strength of pedicle screw based fixation system in bone
No dissociation or failure between bone cement and anchor under maximum static loading
Strength and stability at maximum ADL loads for 10-million cycles
